ROSE-L, CIMR and CHIME Operational Simulators

Description

Creation of advanced, reusable operational simulators (OPSIM) for three critical ESA Earth Observation missions (ROSE-L, CIMR, CHIME). These tools ensure mission readiness and stability throughout the entire spacecraft lifecycle.

Contribution

EMTECH designed and implemented the reusable simulator architecture, modeling critical spacecraft subsystems (AOCS, EPS). This contribution ensured mission readiness by integrating complex ground communication and CFDP protocols for all three missions.

Space Rider Mission Operational Simulator

Description

Since 2019, EMTECH has been a subcontractor contributing to the design and development of the Operational Simulator (OPSIM), focusing on the creation of models for critical subsystems (AOCS, EPS, TCS) based on the ESA SIMULUS/SMP2 standard.

Contribution

EMTECH’s role includes the development of specific subsystem models such as Data Links, Electrical Power Systems (EPS), Thermal Control Systems (TCS), Mechanisms, AOCS/RCS/GNC, Radio Frequency Systems (RFS), Descent Systems, and Environmental Models (ENV).

Description

The SPARID-MMU project involves the design and implementation of a fully emulated Mass Memory Unit (MMU) based on the ESA SIMULUS framework, ensuring compliance with the SMP2 standard (ECSS-E-ST-40-07C).

Contribution

For the emulator implementation, EMTECH provided the SIMULUS baseline configured with CNES ISIS interfaces, technical documentation, the development environment, test harness and stubs, as well as the MMU application software (ASW).

Description

EMTECH acted as the prime contractor for the Independent Software Verification and Validation (ISVV) of the CRISTAL mission, a satellite focused on monitoring climate change.

Contribution

The Independent Verification and Validation was performed specifically on the tailored PUS-C library and the On-Board Macro Procedures (OBMPs), ensuring the integrity and high reliability of the flight software.

Description

Independent Software Verification and Validation (ISVV) was performed on the flight software for the JUICE mission’s scientific payloads, ensuring the reliability of ESA’s critical mission to Jupiter’s icy moons.

Contribution

ISVV was conducted on the instrument flight software (DPU and RIME), providing high-stakes assurance that the scientific payloads will perform reliably in the harsh deep space environment.

Client Governmental Initiative
Description

Prime contractor leading the design, development, launch, and operation of two 8U CubeSats (HELIOS and SELENE) for Earth Observation and pioneering optical communication experimentation.

Contribution

To mitigate mission risk, a cost-efficient, holistic, institutional-grade simulator and an ADCS Test Facility were developed, while the full E2E optical communication chain was also modeled.

HELEO Greek Microsatellite Constellation

Client National Initiative (Sub-contractor with Open Cosmos)
Description

Enhancing the National Earth Observation capability by supporting the HELEO Microsatellite Constellation, seven microsatellites equipped with advanced cameras capable of capturing high-resolution images and data.

Contribution

The contribution included the development of AI-driven onboard applications and high-speed payload interfaces. Institutional magnetic cleanliness and ADCS testing expertise were also applied using specialized agile facilities.
